Hilton Head Island Council

Serving the Lowcountry of South Carolina

USS Port Royal - CG73 Our Adopted Ship

Navy League Ball – October 24, 2015

Welcome Aboard

The Navy League of the United States was founded in 1902 with the encouragement of President Theodore Roosevelt. The Navy League is unique among military-oriented associations in that it is a civilian organization dedicated to the education of our citizens, including our elected officials, and the support of the men and women of the sea services and their families. You need not have served in the military to be a member of the Navy League.

Hilton Head Island Navy League Council

Hilton Head Island Navy League Council is one of five Councils in South Carolina and of the South Atlantic Coast Region which includes North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia.

Supporting Our Community

We support the local NJROTC unit at Hilton Head High school and the ROTC unit at Bluffton High School. We provide two college scholarship to each unit every year. We also support, through several fund raising events each year, the Wounded Warriors Charities of the Low Country.

History

The Hilton Head Island Council was formed in 1988 thanks to the hard work and dedication of our Founding Committee.

This committee was led by Dale Lewey, Joe Hutchinson and George Thomson who brought aboard Bob Brost, Hamp Burnett, Ted McDowell and Grant Morehouse.

The Council has been fortunate to have had and continue to have very able and dedicated individuals serve as Presidents who have continued to carry out the mission of the Navy League.
